What To Do When You’re Undone : Seeing God When Everything Falls Apart
Introduction:
In this powerful message from LEV Church, Pastor Pat Bousum delivers a life-changing word titled “What to Do When You’re Undone.” Drawing from Isaiah 6, he shows how moments of devastation can become divine encounters when we lift our eyes from the chaos and fix them on the King who still reigns.
“In the year that King Uzziah died, I saw the Lord sitting on a throne, high and lifted up…” — Isaiah 6:1
When Life Falls Apart
Every person experiences moments when the bottom drops out — when loss, pain, or unexpected tragedy shakes the foundations of our faith. For Isaiah, it was the death of King Uzziah; for you, it might be the loss of a loved one, a broken dream, or a season of deep uncertainty.
Isaiah’s story reminds us: when everything around you collapses, the throne of God remains unshaken.
Isaiah’s Vision: What He Saw
A Living God — “I saw the Lord…”
God is not buried in history. He’s alive, reigning, and present in every circumstance. When everything dies around you, remember that hope is alive because God is alive.A Sovereign God — “Sitting on a throne.”
Heaven is not in crisis, even when earth is. God never drafts a plan B. His sovereignty means your situation is never beyond His control. An Omnipotent God — “High and lifted up.”
His throne stands above every other. God’s power is unrivaled, and nothing in your life is beyond His reach.A Holy God — “Holy, holy, holy is the Lord of hosts.”
Holiness means God is utterly unique — separate from everything common. His holiness exposes our sin but also invites us into transformation.A Glorious God — “The whole earth is full of His glory.”
Glory is holiness revealed. When God’s presence fills your life, everything changes.
When You’re Undone
When Isaiah saw God’s holiness, he also saw his own brokenness:
“Woe is me, for I am undone.”
Being undone isn’t destruction — it’s the beginning of transformation. God must first undo us before He can remake us. The altar’s coal symbolizes Christ’s cross — the place of forgiveness and grace.
“Your iniquity is taken away, and your sin purged.” — Isaiah 6:7
From Undone to Unstoppable
Once Isaiah experienced God’s cleansing, he heard a question:
“Whom shall I send, and who will go for us?”
The same man who once said “Woe is me” now said “Send me.”
That’s what grace does — it transforms ruin into readiness, pain into purpose, and brokenness into boldness.
Final Encouragement
If you feel undone today, take heart. The throne is still occupied.
When your confidence dies, His strength rises.
When your plans fall apart, His purpose stands firm.
Look up and see the Lord — high and lifted up — and let His glory remake your heart.
